In a market where only half of the 500 million brand prescriptions written annually are filled, the primary barrier is affordability. Data from sources like IQVIA, FDA, and Dr First indicated that a significant number of patients faced medication adherence challenges due to costs. Moreover, 29% of patients encountered delays in obtaining their medications because of insurance and provider communication hitches, as reported by CoverMyMeds.vitaCare, which facilitated access to brand medications, sought to bolster its platform to aid patients more comprehensively and overcome these barriers.
vitaCare partnered with Cinco.Ai to undergo a transformative journey. Together, they transitioned vitaCare out of TherapeuticsMD, revamped their core data systems to be cloud-native, and introduced advanced automated reporting. This overhaul included AI-driven forecasts and preparation for natural language queries and analysis using NLP and generative AI — all of which could be seamlessly disseminated to critical internal teams and safely shared with external pharmaceutical product groups. The main goal was to furnish both vitaCare and its pharma collaborators with actionable insights to pinpoint challenges and opportunities that would elevate prescription adherence rates.
The revamped systems and the enhanced capabilities of vitaCare did not go unnoticed. Recognizing the potential and the value-add of the platform, GoodRx, a prominent consumer-centric digital healthcare platform, acquired vitaCare Prescription Services from TherapeuticsMD. This move further solidified GoodRx's commitment to ensure patients had unfettered access to essential brand-name therapies. As John Milligan, CEO at vitaCare PrescriptionServices, remarked, “We couldn’t be more excited to join GoodRx and be part of a team that is working to put affordable healthcare within reach for everyone.Consumers come to vitaCare looking for a seamless, patient-first experience that will help them get the brand medications they are prescribed.”
Through this strategic project and subsequent acquisition, vitaCare and GoodRx are poised to reshape the landscape of medication access, emphasizing affordability and adherence for the benefit of patients nationwide.
